.Position SummaryLeads Discovery & Optimization (LDO) is a dynamic,
innovative organization that leverages state-of-the-art
technologies and broad scientific expertise to evaluate therapeutic
candidates and deliver comprehensive in vitro datasets across all
stages of drug discovery at Bristol Myers Squibb. The Biochemistry
& Biophysics Team in LDO Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated
undergraduate scientist for a 10-week internship in Summer 2025.
The successful candidate will conduct biochemical and biophysical
assays to characterize small molecule inhibitors of key targets.
This position offers the candidate opportunities to employ
cutting-edge assay technologies, advance technical laboratory
skills, and impact our drug discovery pipeline while building a
foundation of research experience.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement biochemical and biophysical assays to
characterize small molecule inhibitors for targets of interest
using techniques such as fluorescence, mass spectrometry,
fluorescence polarization, etc.
- Express recombinant proteins in E. coli and perform small-scale
purifications
- Analyze assay data and maintain a comprehensive lab
notebook
- Communicate results to project teams through written reports
and oral presentationsQualifications & Experience
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in biochemistry
or a related field, with at least 2 years of study completed by
June 2025
- Experience with basic biochemistry lab equipment (pipettes,
plate readers, etc.)
- Highly organized with thorough record-keeping abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiasm for learning new techniques, following protocols,
