Job Description:
Meat Cutter performs duties related to cutting, preparation,
display, and sales of meat products. Ensures a positive company
image by providing courteous and efficient service to customers and
Team Members. Performs duties in accordance with team and store
Standard Operating Procedures. Maintains a clean and sanitary
working environment.Key responsibilities include:
- Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb,
veal, poultry)
- Prepares specialty meat merchandise (sausage, oven ready
products, cured meats)
- Checks product quality and freshness
- Maintains sampling program
- Monitors and prevents spoilage
- Mentors and supports Meat Cutter Trainees
- Provides excellent customer service and models suggestive
selling techniques
- Maximizes sales potential through proper procedures
- Folllows established procedures and safe work practices
- Ensures a clean and sanitary working environmentRequired skills
include:
- Working understanding of Meat team processes and
procedures
- Excellent cutting skills and knowledge of different cuts and
cooking techniques
- Ability to visually examine products for quality and
freshness
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work as a
team
- Ability to follow directions and procedures
- Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods
MarketPhysical requirements include:
- Lifting 50 pounds
- Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and
pulling
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment
- Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipmentNote: This
